What experts say about the 718 Boxster Spyder

"2020 Porsche 718 Spyder First Test: Ultimate Driver’s Delight - A glorious master class in driver engagement from a car that'll overload your senses and satisfy you on every drive."

"It’s a delightful nod to the past. The Spyder badge is famous in Porsche history, having being attached to some truly evocative road and race cars dating right back to the Fifties, while the engine is a hark back a little more recently in time. A time when Porsche Boxsters came with lovely, rich, sonorous six-cylinder engines and not flat-fours devoid of soul."

"The 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder's 4.0-liter flat-6 engine is a total gem, and its sharp handling and excellent balance make it a fantastic partner for long stretches of winding roads. The 718 Spyder takes the inherent balance of the Porsche Boxster and elevates it to a truly different level. This is one of Porsche's finest sports cars."

At the heart of the mid-engined 718 open-top Boxster is a detuned version of the flat-six found in the range-topping 718 GT4 and Spyder. A 7,800 rpm rev limit is also marginally lower, but the standard sports exhaust means the 718 GTS model should still have more than sufficient aural excitement.
