The Porsche 718 Spyder - my homage to an astonishing car
You could say I was a late bloomer. I was twenty the first time I saw it, and it made me stop–forced me to be attentive to lines that had moved over time, but could still be traced back to a sketch pre-dating my birth. The white, 3.2 litre, G-Series Carrera 911 with black convertible roof was my introduction to an automotive inspiration that would follow me over 3-decades and counting. The artisan attention to detail, to materials, to the overall sensory experience–the synesthetic experience of the brand has never left me. While we have had several in the family over the years, I find myself here in 2020 awaiting the birth of my very own Porsche–a 718 Spyder that just happens to be Carrara white with a black, convertible roof.
